Dear parents,
Please allow me to borrow a bit of your time with a proposal that might interest you. Please see also the PDF version of this letter.
My name is Josefina; I am Gloria and Oscar’s mother (Year 5 and Nursery AM) at Beatrix Potter School, Earlsfield.
I am a qualified teacher and have taught Spanish for the last 12 years in Putney Park School. All through my career I have been very interested in the advantages of teaching languages at an early age. My background in linguistic studies and being a mother of bilingual children has given me the chance to observe multiple language acquisition from the start.
The early exposure of a foreign language has been shown to enhance children’s cognitive development. Children who learn a foreign language beginning in early childhood demonstrate certain cognitive advantages over children who do not. Studies have shown repeatedly that foreign language learning increases critical thinking skills, creativity and flexibility of mind in young children.
It is now the right moment for me to put my passion and expertise to work and I have therefore decided to start my own Spanish teaching programme for children
in the area.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that you will be ready for some language learning soon.
kind regards
JG
